MW Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - With the 2015 Mountain West Cross Country Championships just three weeks away, the conference released its Midseason Coaches' Poll on Wednesday. The Colorado State men's team was ranked second, garnering three first-place votes, while the women's team was selected third by the conference's coaches.

The men's team has the highest national ranking (No. 23) of any Mountain West team, but was selected second to unranked New Mexico, who collected five first-place votes. New Mexico gathered 47 points in the poll, while CSU trailed closely with 44 points. Boise State was a distant third with 35 points. Colorado State (fourth) is also ranked above New Mexico (eighth) in the USTFCCCA Mountain Region rankings.

CSU's second-place ranking is an improvement from the MW preseason coaches' poll, when the Rams were selected to finish third in the conference.

The women's team, coming off a successful Notre Dame Invitational, matched its preseason selection with a third-place ranking. CSU collected 77 points, coming in behind top-ranked New Mexico and second-place Boise State.

The Rams will travel to Reno, Nev., on Oct. 30 to face conference opponents with a chance to win a pair of MW cross country championships. Next up for Colorado State is Pre-Nationals, which will take place in Louisville, Ky., on Oct. 17.
