COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
For the second time in three weeks, Colorado State diver Ariana Milone has been named the Mountain West Women’s Diver of the Week. The junior won four individual events last week and set a school record on the 3-Meter boards. The honor is the fifth of Milone’s career, more than any other diver in program history.

In two dual meets, Milone won all four events she competed in, helping CSU to victories against both Northern Colorado and Air Force. The wins gave the Rams back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2007-08 through 2009-10.

The highlight of the week came on Wednesday, when Milone set a school record on the 3-Meter. Her score of 329.03 was nearly five points ahead of Lori Vigil, who had owned the top score for 13 years. Milone previously held five of the top seven scores in school history, and had come within two points twice already this season. That night, the native of The Woodlands, Texas, also won the 1-Meter event, scoring 280.73.

On Saturday, the Rams defeated Air Force, with Milone again winning both springboard events. Her scores were also part of the AFA Diving Invitational, however, which included nearly 50 other student-athletes from 16 programs.

Milone led both events through the preliminary rounds, before finishing fourth (3-Meter) and fifth (1-Meter). Her 1-Meter score was the best among all Mountain West divers, and she continued to show why she is among the top divers in the region.

She will have several more opportunities to show that, first at the Mountain West Championships Feb. 18-21 in San Antonio, Texas. Milone scored in both events at last year’s Championships, including a fifth-place finish on the 1-Meter. Following that event, all four of CSU’s divers will compete at NCAA Zones at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Impressively, each of CSU’s divers has earned qualifying scores throughout the season, advancing them to the regional round.
