INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Colorado State men's cross country team was recognized Wednesday by the NCAA when it released its list of teams for the Academic Progress Rating (APR) Public Recognition Awards, which highlight programs that have posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent for their respective sports.
This year's award recognized teams for their APR performance in 2013-14. The Rams earned perfect APR scores of 1,000 in 13-14. In addition, the multi-year APR (2010-11 -- 2013-14) is also 1,000, meaning neither team lost an eligibility point among its scholarship athletes during that time. This is the second consecutive APR honor for the men's cross country program, and the second all-time since it began in 2004-05.
In addition to their success in the class, the men's cross country team took their success to new heights under third-year Head Coach Art Siemers. The men's team shattered expectations, finishing 19th at the NCAA championship after entering the race ranked No. 27. Redshirt sophomore Jefferson Abbey and redshirt freshman Jerrell Mock each were honored with all-conference and USTFCCCA all-region awards.
