Rams competing at Phill Hansel Invite, Lumberjack Diving Invitational (running recap)

HOUSTON -- Sophomore Marie Goodwyn won the 200 butterfly, while junior Tonicia Thomas and freshman Maddie Ward also starred at the Phill Hansel Invite for the Colorado State Rams on Saturday, posting another pair of NCAA 'B' qualifying times. The Rams finished the event in seventh place out of 10 teams.

Goodwyn won the 200 fly in 1:59.55, a time that ranks second in program history and earned her an NCAA 'B' cut. Goodwyn has won the 200 fly in all five events this season.

Thomas placed second in the 200 back (1:57.19), collecting her second NCAA 'B' cut of the weekend (100 back). She placed first in the 200 back prelims with a time of of 1:57.39.

Ward took fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.38), earning her second 'B' cut time in a breaststroke event this week.  

Senior Rowan Hauber made another final, placing eighth in the 100 freestyle (50.77). She had the fifth-best time in the prelims, recording a 50.59 earlier in the day.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Freshmen Skylar Williams and Rachel Holland competed in the 3-meter dive at the Lumberjack Diving Invitational on Saturday, placing 22nd (230.65) and 32nd (158.65) respectively.

HOUSTON -- The Colorado State Rams improved their position on the team leaderboard on Friday at the Phill Hansel Invite, bolstered by several individuals notching NCAA 'B' cut times in numerous events.

The Rams took two of the three spots on the podium in the 100 backstroke, with Rowan Hauber (54.31) and Tonicia Thomas (54.58) placing second and third, respectively. Both athletes registered NCAA 'B' qualifying marks in the event for the first time this season. Thomas actually posted a faster time (54.52) in the prelims of the event.

Sophomore Marie Goodwyn also tallied her first 'B' cut time of the season, posting a 4:17.30 in the 400 IM. The mark is the second-best in program history, and earned Goodwyn a third-place finish.

Freshman Maddie Ward narrowly missed a 'B' cut of her own, posting a 1:02.52 in the 100 breaststroke to finish fifth.

CSU moved up one spot on the team leaderboard and currently sits in a tie for seventh heading into the final day of the Phill Hansel Invite tomorrow.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- CSU's freshmen duo of Skylar Williams and Rachel Holland competed during the first day of the Lumberjack Diving Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona on Friday.

Williams placed 20th in the preliminaries of the 1-meter dive, posting a score of 231.65. Holland was given a score of 183.45.

The event will close tomorrow with the 3-meter diving championship.

HOUSTON -- The Colorado State swim team completed the first day at the Phill Hansel Invite on Thursday, setting several season-best times in the process.

The Rams star-studded foursome of Tonicia Thomas, Madison Ward, Marie Goodwyn and Rowan Hauber earned a podium finish with a third-place result in the 400 medley relay (3:43.54). Hauber, a senior, then posted a season-best time of 23.15 in the 50 freestyle to place fourth.

Thomas and Hauber swam the third and fourth legs of the 200 free relay, as well, helping CSU to a sixth-place finish in a season-best time of 1:33.89. Veronica Morin and Roslyn Selznick also swam in the event-opening relay.

Goodwyn placed 10th individually in the 200 IM in her top time of the year (2:02.05.). Junior Ida Donohue also had a season-best time in the 500 free, placing 18th with a 4:54.84 mark.

CSU is currently eighth out of 10 squads on the team leaderboard.
