Hauber, Olson, Salanitro to be recognized

Prior to the Rams' home meet versus Northern Arizona on Friday, three CSU seniors will be recognized for their contributions and achievements both in and out of the pool.

Rowan Hauber, Colleen Olson and Gianna Salanitro will be honored and celebrated at approximately 4:50 p.m. on the pool deck (10 minutes before the beginning of the meet). The ceremony will also be streamed live (along with the entirety of the meet) at CSURams.com/live.

A look at the three stalwart Rams:

Rowan Hauber

Rowan Hauber has had a significant impact on the CSU swim team in her two years in Fort Collins. Hauber led the team with 111.5 points contributed at last year's Mountain West championship, including 72 individual points. The all-conference performer from Baltimore has six individual wins this season, and was part of CSU's school-record 200 Free Relay team at last year's Mountain West Championships. She has also posted NCAA B qualifying marks in backstroke and freestyle events.
Hauber is a nutrition and food science major at CSU.

Head coach Christopher Woodard on Hauber: "She's such a unique kid. I love having her on the team. The bottom line is when it's time to race, the nerves go away and she's thinking about how to win. She's a hard-charger and she's very mature about her training and her racing to get where she wants to go. She's made a big impact."

Colleen Olson

Colleen Olson has had an admirable career at CSU. She's been a member of some of the team's top relay squads, and has been a consistent contributor in freestyle events, while having to overcome several injuries during her career. Olson also contributed to the fourth-fastest 800 free relay time in program history. A native of Littleton, Colorado, Olson has earned several academic honors from the Mountain West. Olson is a geology major at CSU.

Woodard on Olson: "The fact that she is here after four major surgeries and continues to day-in and day-out just throw down not only in training but in competitions. Most of her teammates think she's a machine. She's incredibly disciplined in every facet of her training and it shows in her results. She's meant a lot to me personally. She wanted to come here to help build a program that was more focused on teammates and the bonds they have, and I think she's done an amazing job at forging those bonds."

Gianna Salanitro

Salantiro, a native of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, is a team captain for CSU. The Mountain Vista High School product has swam primarily in freestyle and breaststroke events at CSU, and has posted personal best times over the past two seasons in four breaststroke events. She also picked up a win in the 50 yard breaststroke at the Intermountain Shootout earlier this season. A business major, Salanitro has earned several academic honors from the Mountain West.

Woodard on Salanitro: "She's our team captain. This team means a great deal to her. She's always willing to help. We are seeing all her hard work over the years pay off with power development and gaining confidence in her races. She's been able to make a greater impact in dual meets this year than she ever has before, and it's been a treat to watch her grow in this leadership role."
