Rams to compete as a team for the fifth time in the past six seasons under head coach Art Siemers

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the fifth time in the past six seasons, Colorado State men's cross country will compete as a team at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The 14th-ranked Rams received an at-large bid to cement their place among the 31-team field announced by the NCAA on Saturday.

The 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held from the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wis., on Saturday, Nov. 17. That location is familiar for Colorado State this season, as the Rams competed in two other meets held from that course in 2018, the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational and Pre-Nationals. CSU placed a program-best sixth and ahead of 11 ranked teams at the Nuttycombe, which featured a field that compares closest to the NCAA Championships.

This also marks the third consecutive season that Colorado State men's cross country has competed as a team at the NCAA Championships. Last season, Colorado State placed ninth at NCAAs, the fifth-best national finish by any CSU Athletics program all-time and the Rams' highest finish in men's cross country since 1978. Prior to head coach Art Siemers' now-seven-season tenure, CSU had not qualified for the NCAA Championships on the men's side since 2004.

Colorado State returns NCAA Championships experience to this year's squad, as each of 2017 cross country All-American Cole Rockhold, Eric Hamer and Carson Hume have competed at nationals in men's cross country twice previously. Senior Trent Powell also brings NCAA Championships experience after running at last year's meet.

The 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships will begin at 9:45 a.m. MT/10:45 a.m. CT with the women's championship 6k race. The men's championship 10k race will follow the conclusion of that race, and is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. MT/11:45 a.m. CT. FloTrack subscribers will be able to follow the entirety of the meet through the website's live stream.
