Gardner’s program-record high jump mark of 6-0.5 (1.84m) ranks third in the NCAA and 21st in the world

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following a record-setting performance this past weekend, Colorado State senior Autumn Gardner was named Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week. The conference announced its weekly accolades on Tuesday.

Gardner cleared 6-0.5 (1.84m) in the high jump at the NoCo Challenge on Sunday, April 14, to break the program record in the event and become the first athlete in program history to jump higher than six feet (previous record was 6-0/1.82m by Jazmyn Webster in 2015). In addition, the senior's mark ranks as the sixth-best in Mountain West history.

With her performance, Gardner ranks as one of only three athletes in the NCAA this season with a mark in the women's high jump better than six feet. Additionally, the Westminster, Colo., native is now the Mountain West leader in the event and ranks 21st among all performers in the world this outdoor season.

In addition to those distinctions, Gardner also stands as one of only five athletes from any Mountain West school in the past decade (current or former member institutions) to register a mark better than six feet in the women's outdoor high jump (UNLV's Kaysee Pilgrim, BYU's Ada Robinson, Air Force's Shelley Spires and Nevada's Nicole Wadden).

The marks the first weekly conference honor for the two-time All-Mountain West performer. Gardner is the fourth Ram to receive weekly outdoor honors this outdoor season, joining Kelcey Bedard, Destinee Rocker and Ronald Sayles.

The Colorado State track & field team will travel to California next week for one of its most significant stretches of the outdoor season. The Rams will look for big marks at the Bryan Clay Invitational (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), the Mt. SAC Relays (Thursday and Friday), the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate (Thursday) and the Beach Invitational (Friday and Saturday).
