Rams women’s swimming & diving receives Public Recognition Award for multi-year APR in the top 10 percent of all NCAA programs in its sport

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Colorado State's women's swimming & diving program received distinction for multiple years of academic excellence from the NCAA with representation on the organization's list of teams for the Academic Progress Rating (APR) Public Recognition Awards.

The NCAA announced that list of teams on Wednesday, as well as the teams with a perfect single-year APR in 2016-17, which includes CSU women's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf, men's golf, softball and women's tennis.

The Rams' women's swimming & diving team receives the prestigious Public Recognition Award from the organization for earning a multi-year APR in the top 10 percent of all NCAA programs in its sport. Swimming & diving's multi-year distinction reflects its perfect APR of 1,000 for the 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years.

"Our team's total investment in pursuing excellence academically and athletically is always impressive," CSU swimming & diving head coach Woody Woodard said. "It speaks to our team culture and how much they all fully engage themselves in and out of the pool."

According to the NCAA, the APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term with the goal of providing a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport. As part of the APR program, each team is required to meet an academic threshold of 930 to qualify for the postseason, and may face penalties for any prolonged poor academic performance.

"I applaud every program earning a Public Recognition Award this year for their commitment to going above and beyond to prepare students for life after college through academic achievement," NCAA President Mark Emmert said in a statement.
