Rams Complete Action at Nuttycombe Invite

MADISON, Wis. – In the invite-only Nuttycombe Invitational, the Rams faced the toughest competition of the season, placing 26th on the men's side and 31st on the women's side Friday afternoon.
 
In total there were 39 ranked teams plus another dozen that were receiving votes in the USTFCCCA poll on both sides. The women finished above two teams that were receiving votes in the poll, while the men edged out one.
 
In the Men's Championship 8,000-meter race, redshirt-senior Satchel Caldwell paced the Rams for the first time in his career, finishing 73rd with a time of 24:27.7. Fellow redshirt-senior Forrest Barton followed in 84th for the second score. After Jacob Brueckman and Thomas Chaston crossed, redshirt-sophomore Maximilliano Martinez finished with a career best of 25:06.7 to conclude the CSU scorers.
 
The Women's Championship 6K race saw three career-best times and two first-time runners in the collegiate 6K. For the third time this season, redshirt-sophomore Lily Tomasula-Martin led the Rams as she finished in 83rd with a time of 21:11.4. Clocking a new personal best, redshirt-sophomore Sarah Carter came in 106th with a time of 21:18.4. To round out CSU scorers were Ashlyn Hillyard, Devon Peterson, Lauren Offerman.
 
Earlier in the day, five total Rams ran in the B races, highlighted by a 14th-place finish from junior Matt Begeman.
 
NEXT
The Rams are back in competition on Nov. 1 in the Mountain West Championships held in Logan, Utah.
