INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Colorado State senior Kelcey Bedard, senior Marybeth Sant and sophomore Tarynn Sieg have qualified for the 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships based upon performances during the current season. The NCAA announced the list of qualifiers on Tuesday night.
Â
The 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., from March 8-9. Sant will compete as the No. 6 seed in the 60 meters, while Bedard ranks as the No. 7 seed in the weight throw and Sieg enters as the No. 11 seed in the shot put.
Â
Sieg will be the first to compete for the Rams, as the shot put is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. MT/5:15 p.m. CT on Friday, March 8. Both the preliminaries and finals will be completed that day. The sophomore registered her qualifying mark of 56-1 (17.09m) en route to the 2019 Mountain West title in the shot put, and ranks as the No. 3 all-time performer in the event in conference history.
Â
Sant will also be in competition on Friday in the 60 meters semifinals at 5:57 p.m. MT/6:57 p.m. CT. Should she advance, the senior would then compete in the 60 meters final at 4:10 p.m. MT/5:10 p.m. CT on Saturday. Among the notables this season for the Millrose Games participant was a time of 7.18 (7.20 with altitude conversion) at the Potts Invitational on Jan. 11. That ranks fourth in Mountain West history and is an all-time CSU record.
Â
Bedard will compete in the weight throw at 1 p.m. MT/2 p.m. CT on Saturday. Each of the preliminaries and finals will be contested at that time. The two-time Mountain West weight throw champion enters with a best mark of 72-10 (22.20m), which is second in conference history and the best by any athlete in the conference in nearly 14 years. Bedard makes her second appearance at the NCAA Championships after competing in the hammer throw at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Â
ESPN3 will stream the NCAA Indoor Championships live beginning at 4:30 p.m. MT/5:30 p.m. CT on Friday, March 8 and starting at 3 p.m. MT/4 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 9. The broadcast of the NCAA Indoor Championships will be re-aired at 8 p.m. MT/9 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 10 on ESPN2 and on ESPNU at 8 p.m. MT/9 p.m. CT on Monday, March 11.
