AD Statement: Fall Term Update
8/28/2019 3:26:00 PM | Football, General, Women's Soccer, Softball, Cross Country
The beginning of the fall term remains one of my very favorite times of the year. After welcoming all students back to campus this past weekend, classes began on Monday and the activity at Colorado State is energizing. In addition to classes, our fall athletic season has also begun. I am extremely proud of all of the student-athletes who are representing the Rams. As you know, they have worked extremely hard both in the classroom and in their preparation for their respective competitive season.Â
Â
Below are a few updates I want to share with you. I am really looking forward to the 2019-20 academic year. Thank you for your continued support of Colorado State Athletics and for being on this journey with all of us.
Â
Go Rams!

Director of Athletics
Colorado State Football
The 2019 season begins this Friday in Denver for the final Rocky Mountain Showdown to be played at Broncos Stadium at Mile High. We are so grateful to the entire Broncos organization for their support of this game and for their outstanding and comprehensive partnership with CSU. For the third consecutive season, and for only the third-time in program history, we have eclipsed 12,000 football season tickets sold. While we are so thankful to all those who support by purchasing season tickets, we remain laser focused on filling Canvas Stadium. It is very impactful and simply put, we need the Ram Nation behind this program.Â
Â
Colorado State Soccer
Your CSU women's soccer team (2-0) is off to their best start in the seven-year history of the program after getting wins in their first two matches of the 2019 season. On Sunday, head coach Bill Hempen also won his 300th career game as a head coach – a tremendous accomplishment for Coach Hempen who continues to build a program to compete with the best of the best in the Mountain West Conference. Our next home match is on Friday, September 13. Coach Hempen and the team host Denver at 4 p.m. Please come out and see this team in action; they are fun to watch!
Â
Soccer and Softball Complex
As we continue to seek excellence in all that we do, an important part of that is facilities. In case you missed it, we have announced that we are in the planning stages of the construction of a new facility to serve the soccer and softball programs. We will have more information on this exciting new project in the coming months as the project takes shape.
Â
Colorado State Volleyball
Volleyball season has arrived, and head coach Tom Hilbert's squad has again been picked to win the Mountain West Conference. The season begins on Friday at 11 a.m. vs. Chicago State, so you can make it a day of events before heading down to Denver for the Rocky Mountain Showdown.
Â
On Saturday, August 31, Coach Hilbert and your Volleyball Team hosts the University of Oklahoma in the "WHITE OUT" game at 7 p.m. The atmosphere for this game is always electric in Moby Arena, and tickets are going fast! Be sure to secure yours as your Rams host one of the top programs in the Big 12 in Fort Collins on Saturday.
Â
Men's and Women's Cross Country
Our men's and women's cross country teams also begin their fall meet schedule in early September when they travel to Laramie for the Wyoming Open. Last season, head cross country coach Art Siemers led the men's program to another ninth place finish at the NCAA Championships, the first program in the history of CSU Athletics to finish ninth or higher in consecutive seasons. We look forward to another championship caliber team this season.
