COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior Amelia Harvey was named a 2020 All-American Athlete from The National Strength and Conditioning Association, announced by the organization's office.
Harvey, of Colorado Springs, Colo., is one of 38 student-athletes across the country to receive the accolade, spanning all levels of collegiate athletics.
The multi was hitting her stride in the 2019-20 indoor season as she concluded with four new marks on CSU's all-time indoor list, including her second-place finish in the pentathlon at the Mountain West Championships with a score that sits third in school history. At the UCCS Mountain Lion Invite in early February, she passed two former teammates on the triple jump list to land at No. 5 – the same spot she holds in the long jump from two years ago. A week later at Don Kirby Invite, Harvey ran herself into the top-10 list on the 200-meter. The remaining new mark came in the 60-meter hurdles where she stands 16th.
When it mattered most in the conference meet, Harvey left it all out in Albuquerque. She was one of two student-athletes to compete in three other events along with the pentathlon. In the process, she combined for 11 points for the Rams to aid in the team's third-place finish.
"Amelia has worked incredibly hard this year to develop herself into one the best multi-event athletes in Colorado State University history," assistant strength and conditioning coach Adam Parsons said. "She currently ranks in the Top 20 all-time in many individual events. This is a testament to her hard work and dedication on the track and in the weight room. Things have not always come easy for Amelia as she has had to battle many personal and athletic setbacks on the way, but she has overcome all of them and earned the respect and admiration of her teammates and coaches. She is an absolute pleasure to coach and will go on to succeed in her future endeavors after her time at CSU."
