Freshman cracked top five in program history on both springboards vs. Idaho
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Lindsay Gizzi was impressive from the start in her debut season, and the freshman shows no signs of slowing down after picking up her third Mountain West Diver of the Week honor this season and her second in a row.
Â
Gizzi, from South Bend, Ind., won both the 1- and 3-meter springboards in Friday's dual against Idaho, cracking into the top 5 in program history on both as she set personal bests on the day. Her 311.73 on the 3-meter ranks third in program history, while her 293.72 ranks fourth. Both scores are NCAA Zones qualifying marks.
Â
She joins Lori Vigil as the only Ram divers to earn the Mountain West weekly honor three times in a season, with Vigil having done so during the 2002-03 season. Ariana Milone earned the honor six times in her career (2012-2016), while Vigil did it four times (2002-04). Milone owns the school record in the 3-meter at 356.00, while Skylar Williams has claim on the school record on the 1-meter at 313.15.
Â
It is the sixth conference weekly honor for the program his year, and Gizzi has four of them, having been named Freshman of the Week the first week of competition. Classmates Maisy Barbosa (swimmer) and Maya White (freshman) have the others.
Â
Colorado State beat Idaho 211-89 to push their dual mark to 11-0 on the season. The Rams return to competition Nov. 5 when they travel to Wyoming for a double dual which will also include Colorado Mesa.
