Sprinter Earns Conference Weekly Honor After Opening Meet
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior Jessica Ozoude was named Mountain West's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance in last Friday's Air Force Holiday Open, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Â
This is a great sign for the Colorado State track and field program and Ozoude who missed out on all last indoor season and then got reinjured prior to outdoor conference in May. Ozoude holds CSU's 200m records along with being a part of three record relay teams and is in four other top-10 lists.
Â
Ozoude, of Sparks, Nev., won the 60-meter race with a time of 7.37 inside the Cadet Field House. She shaved .06 seconds off her PR to move from sixth to fourth all-time at CSU in the event. Despite the NCAA tacking on an altitude conversion to 7.41, her time registers third in the nation.
Â
The award marks her second weekly honor from the Mountain West with the first coming on April 30, 2019, in the outdoor season.
Â
Next, the Rams will compete in the Wyoming Indoor Meet/Multi starting Friday, Dec. 10th and ending Saturday, Dec. 11th in Laramie, Wyo.
