Highlights of the 2019-20 financial report:
- As it has every year under the leadership of Director of Athletics Joe Parker, the department out-performed its financial plan.
- Men's basketball (14%) and women's volleyball (12%) both saw double-digit increases in ticket sales compared to their previous seasons.
- Despite the pandemic, athletic student aid was increased in total dollar amount, equivalencies awarded, and in total students receiving aid.
- An additional $2.5 million expense was accounted for as a result of a coaching transition while maintaining a balanced budget.
- As a result of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, the department saw a decrease in revenues of approximately $1.1 million and still exceeded the budget plan for self-generated revenue by more than $300,000
- Direct institutional support remained under the total amount that was budgeted. In all three years of operation at Canvas Stadium, the department has taken less institutional support than was budgeted.
- Institutional support was increased by $1,665,221 due to an increase in salary pool, fringe benefits, and financial aid costs increases. No increases were due to increased operational costs.
- The department received $717,819 less in one-time money than was budgeted for in FY20.
- A stadium surplus was available to move from the stadium financial organization to the general athletic department organization. In FY20, $446,622 was moved.
