Hamer Set for Friday’s Run in NCAA Championships

Eric Hamer to Compete in 5,000-Meter Race at NCAAs
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The wait is almost over for Eric Hamer and his 5,000-meter race at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships inside the Randal Tyson Track Center.
The national indoor meet started Thursday, but Hamer will race on the second day, Friday, March 12th at 2:05 p.m. MT. Follow along with the Live Stats, while ESPN3 provides the live stream. The track itself is a 200-meter, 60-degree banked track that has 60-meter straightaways running the entire length of the facility.
The Monument, Colo. native represents the third Ram to ever compete in the 5,000-meter men's race at indoor nationals. He joins former teammates Jerrell Mock and Grant Fischer who each had two appearances in the race during their CSU career. Both Mock and Fischer were award USTFCCCA All-America Second Team honors in both performances. All have been under the umbrella of head distance coach Art Siemers.
Last year, Hamer entered as the 14th-seed with a then school record of 13:40.11, while he will enter this year's national meet the fourth seed and an improved 13:37.73 mark. His NCAA qualification time came from his win at the Mines Front Range Open where he set a Steinhauer Fieldhouse record at 14:16.29, which adjusted to 13:36.18.
