Head Track & Field Coach Brian Bedard Announces Spring Season
FORT COLLINS – Three home meets at the Jack Christiansen Track highlight the Rams' 2021 outdoor track and field schedule, announced Tuesday by Colorado State head coach Brian Bedard.
Â
After a shortened indoor season, the Rams get more dates to compete this outdoor season including a Mountain West Championship in Fresno, Calif. on May 13th to May 15th.Â
Â
The Rams officially start their outdoor campaign this coming weekend, March 26th and 27th, at the Spank Blasing Invite hosted by CSU Pueblo. Next, Colorado State will host the Doug Max Invitational on Saturday, April 3rd.
Â
Away meets at Colorado and Oklahoma follow and then the Rams will conclude their home schedule with the Glenn Morris Multis, Thursday, April 22st and Friday, April 23rd before the Jack Christiansen Invitational on April 24th. The last major meet CSU will partake in is the Rock Chalk Classic on the Campus of Kansas where they have not visited since 2016 for the Kansas Relays.
Â
A last chance type meet is penciled in for May 7th at Air Force for a final tune up prior to the MW Championships a week after. Colorado State is the reigning outdoor champions for the conference, winning both the men and women's side in 2019.

On the away meets…
"Several of the California meets that we usually would try to go to were either cancelled or severely restricted as far as the number of teams they let in. Therefore, we looked elsewhere and found a few other options that fit us well. The meet at Kansas and Oklahoma will have great competition and are at superb facilities. It is also a benefit to just go to another part of the country that we haven't gone to in a while to compete."Â
Â
On home meets…
"Thanks to the Pandemic Preparedness Team and Larimer County, we will be able to host a few of our annual meets, which is really great. It gives the student-athletes a chance to showcase their talents at their own facility other than at practice. It also gives them a break from the grind of traveling. Instead of getting on a bus for an extended amount of time, they can just hop on their bike and ride over or carpool with teammates."
Â
On getting started…
"We are taking a large group of student-athletes down to CSU Pueblo this weekend in full uniform and full go. We are excited to get things going. The coaches sure are, but I am sure the student-athletes are even more."
