CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Against a very high-level field, Colorado State moved up one spot in the second round and is seventh after 36 holes of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic Tuesday. The three-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by University of San Diego and San Diego State University, is being played at San Diego Country Club (Par 72 – 7,033 yards) in Chula Vista, Calif.

On a day where the scores were significantly higher than the first round, the Rams came out on No. 10 and made some quality birdies, turning in 1-under as a team. However, the front nine, which is scoring significantly higher, held up to its reputation, as the Rams could not find birdies and finished the day at 12-over 300 and is at 13-over 589 in seventh. UCLA is the leader at 1-under 575, nine shots ahead of Nevada in second at 8-over 584. No. 22 New Mexico and Colorado are tied for third at 9-over 585, with No. 46 USC and co-host San Diego two shots back at 12-over 588 in a tie for fifth. Just five shots separate the Rams from second heading into the final day.

Parathakorn Suyasri is the top Ram at 1-over 145 in a tie for 13th, with Davis Bryant one shot back at 2-over 146 in a  tie for 19th. Gunnar Broin is tied for 37th at 5-over 149, while AJ Ott is at 6-over 150 in a tie for 46th. Rasmus Hjelm is tied for 70th at 10-over 154. Devon Bling of UCLA is the individual leader at 7-under 137, holding a three-shot lead heading into the final round.

CSU will tee off the final round at 8 a.m. PT off Hole 10, playing again with Washington, San Diego and Southern Cal.
