Bryant, Ott both in top six individuals heading into the final 18 holes
TUCSON, Ariz.  – Colorado State is in sixth through 36 holes of the 2021 Mountain West Championship Friday. The two-day, 54-hole event is being played at Omni Tucson National Resort Catalina Course (Par 72 – 7,194 yards) in Tuczon, Ariz.

The Rams opened the first round with a 6-over 294 and were in sixth after 18 holes and then followed up with an improved even-par 288 to sit at 6-over 582 in sixth. Boise State is the leader at 6-under 570, one shot better than San Diego State at 5-under 571. UNLV is third at 3-under 573, with Nevada in fourth at 2-under 574. New Mexico rounds out the top five teams at even-par 576.

CSU has two individuals in the top six, as Davis Bryant shot a 1-under 71 in the morning round and a 3-under 69 in the afternoon to post a 4-under 140 and enter the final day in a tie for third. AJ Ott is tied for sixth at 2-under 142, as the senior rebounded from a 1-over 73 in the morning to shoot a 3-under 69 in the second. Rasmus Hjelm is tied for 32nd at 5-over 149, while Parathakorn Suyasri is 43rd at 8-over 152. Oscar Teiffel rounds out the Rams' effort at 9-over 153, tied for 44th. UNLV's Jack Trent leads the medalist race at 6-under 138.

"AJ and Davis played well today," head coach Christian Newton said. "I'm happy for them. We're going to need better play out of the rest of the lineup if we're going to be able to post a great team finish here. I'm hopeful will have all five guys in it tomorrow."

The Rams will into tomorrow's final round, playing with San Jose State. The winner earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
