Colorado State Wins Eight of 12 Events in Day One at Boulder

BOULDER, Colo. – Day one of the Colorado Invitational ended up being essentially a dual between the Buffaloes and the Rams with the latter doing more of the winning to a tone of eight in the 12 completed events.

All the action compromised of field events with Saturday's day two being all track events. Of the six women's field events on Friday, three had representatives from both CSU and CU and in those all were won by a Ram. The other three events didn't feature a single Ram vs. a Buff. CSU won the pole vault (Celyn Stermer) and triple jump (Aaliyah Robinson), while not competing in the high jump.

The women winners who had resistance consisted of Tarynn Sieg-Bown (weight throw), Gabi McDonald (shot put) and Jahzara Davis (long jump).

For the men, Colorado State took half of the events, winning the long jump (Cory Taylor), shot put (Mariano Kis), and triple jump (Isa Bynum).

Dominance continued for Kis, McDonald and Sieg (Bown) in the throwing circle. Kis and McDonald have four shot put wins apiece this season with McDonald going 4-for-4. Sieg (Bown) is a perfect 5-for-5 in the weight throw.

Saturday will get going at 11 a.m. and will be exclusively track events. More competing schools also plan to be in the mix for the running portion. Live results can be found on cubuffs.com/tracklive.

Coach's Corner
Head Coach Brian Bedard
On the start of the meet…
"We had some good event wins in the events in which we had competition, but still need to get better with everything from preparation to completion. Tomorrow should offer more excitement with more opposition and anticipated fast times for our distance and sprint groups."
