Â
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Erick Reasoner, a decade-plus veteran in the collegiate development space, has been named Colorado State's Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development, Director of Athletics Joe Parker announced on Friday.
Â
In this role, Reasoner will lead the philanthropic efforts of the department as the leader of the Ram Club and serve as a member of Parker's 10-member Executive Leadership Team. He will begin his role with the Rams on Monday, Oct. 31.
Â
"After an extensive national search during which we saw significant interest for this position, I am thrilled to welcome Erick, his wife Anna, and their children Reghan and Tris to Colorado State," Parker said. "Erick's experience in leadership roles at Georgia Southern and Stetson combined with his success at Florida, Tulane, and Auburn will be assets to our fundraising and engagement efforts here at CSU. I am excited for our Ram Club members – both current and prospective – to meet Erick and feel his passion for the student-athlete experience."
Â
Over his tenure in Statesboro, Reasoner's team set all-time records for total dollars raised, major gift dollars, annual fund dollars, and number of major gifts to the department in FY21 and again in FY22. In his two-plus years, the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation increased their total annual giving from $3 million (FY20) to $10.6 million (FY22) while also creating lifetime giving societies for the first time at GSU.
Â
"This is a very exciting time for Colorado State Athletics, and I am thankful to Joe Parker and his search committee, Steve Cottingham, Chris Ferris, and Shalini Shanker, for trusting me with this opportunity," Reasoner said. "My family and I can't wait to get to Fort Collins to start meeting all of the great people who elevate our programs on a daily basis. You can tell this is a special community, and we are thrilled to join it. I intend to hit the ground running and look forward to getting to know our supporters on an individual level."
Â
Major gifts to Georgia Southern Athletics increased over 85 percent from the FY21 record, with over $7.4 million in new cash commitments in FY22. The modernization of the Erk Russell Fund helped propel the annual fund to $3.2 million, surpassing the previous high mark by over 60 percent. The Athletic Foundation also re-set the all-time records for number of donors, number of face-to-face visits and number of gifts.
Â
Prior to his move to Georgia Southern, Reasoner spent four years (Feb. 2016 - July 2020) as the director of development for the University of Florida Athletic Association. Working with Gator Boosters, Reasoner raised $5.44 million in athletic major gifts from donors with no previous major giving history and secured the largest gift from a professional athlete (while still competing) in University of Florida history. He also planned and implemented strategies for top campaign prospects to raise $450 million for athletics as part of the $4.5 billion university campaign.
Â
Prior to Gainesville, Reasoner spent nearly a year at Stetson University overseeing all revenue generation for the athletics department. From 2012-15, he worked at Auburn University, first as a development officer before moving to the director of development role. In his time on The Plains, Reasoner raised over $3 million in athletic major gifts from donors with no previous major giving history and managed a portfolio of over 100 major gift prospects.
Â
Reasoner got his start in collegiate athletics at Tulane University, where he worked in 2011 and 2012. As an athletics development officer, he was part of a team that raised nearly $30 million in 2011-12 via 3,500 donors - both records for the department.
Â
A native of Westerville, Ohio, Reasoner graduated from The Ohio State University in 2009 with a degree in sport & leisure studies and then earned a Master's in sport management from the University of Florida in 2010.
