Sprinter Earns Her Second Conference Weekly Honor of the Season

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second time in three weeks, Lauren Gale was named Mountain West Women's Track Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.

At the Don Kirby Invitational, Gale snatched the Colorado State women's indoor 200m record with a 23.08 time, which also set the Canadian record for the Ottawa, Ontario native. Nationally, the time has Gale 11th – inside the top-16 cutoff for invitations to the NCAA Indoor Championships. Among the Mountain West, the time is first this season and slides into No. 3 spot all-time.

Gale overtook teammate Jessica Ozoude in capturing the CSU record, while Ozoude in the same race clocked a faster time too. Ozoude crossed at 23.22 for the fifth-best time in the event in MW history.

The award marks her second weekly honor from the Mountain West.

Next, the Rams will compete in the Mountain West Championships held in Albuquerque, N.M., running Feb. 24th to Feb. 26th.
