Gizzi Bookends Season's Freshman of Year Honors

Diver has been recognized six times this season by Mountain West
COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – On the eve of her first Mountain West Championships, Colorado State freshman diver Lindsay Gizzi has added her sixth weekly honor of the season.

On Tuesday, she was named Freshman of the Week by the conference after her performance at the Air Force Diving Invitational on Feb. 3-5, where she placed on both the 1- and 3-meter springboards. Against a field loaded with NCAA Championships experience, she hit a personal-best 322.50 on the 3-meter, strengthening her No. 3 all-time spot in the event for the Rams. The next day she came back and placed sixth on the 1-meter with a 267.95.

She started her career by earning the first Freshman of the Week honor of the season, as she was also named the Diver of the Week. She went on two earn three more of those recognitions, two coming in back-to-back weeks in October.

Colorado State traveled to College Station, Texas, on Monday for the Mountain West Championships, which begin Wednesday at the Texas A&M Natatorium. Gizzi will compete on the 1-meter board the first day of competition, as the action in the lanes is limited to the 200-yard medley and 800 freestyle relays. Diving preliminaries, followed immediately by the consolation finals, starts at 11:30 a.m. MT that day, with the championship finals in all three events beginning at 5:30 p.m.
