Multi Earns Conference Weekly Honor After New Mexico Collegiate Classic
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior Lexie Keller was named Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her performance in last Friday's New Mexico Collegiate Classic, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Â
Keller obtained the Colorado State indoor track record in the pentathlon with a score of 4,105 points, passing the previous record of 4,084 set by Katie Lloyd in 2007. The total represents the best among the MW this season and the fifth-best all-time in the conference. Across the NCAA this season, Keller's output ranks 11th. Looking ahead to the NCAA Championships, the top 16 declared student-athletes per event will be accepted into the national meet.
Â
Entering the 2021-22 campaign, Keller's best pentathlon score was 3,807 – good for seventh on the all-time list. At the Wyoming Power Meet, the second meet of the season, she jumped to second all-time with a 3,946 score. With the latest competition, she has improved her point total by 298 points this season.
Â
Within the five events, Keller notched personal-best marks in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump and 800m. In the 60mH, she broke out of a tie for 12th all-time to occupy the spot by herself with a time of 8.66.
Â
This is the sixth week of conference awards for the 2021-22 season and CSU has had at least one Ram in five of them. The award marks Keller's first weekly honor from the Mountain West. The Albuquerque, N.M. native is a two-time All-MW recipient after placing third in the heptathlon at conference last outdoor season and third in the pentathlon in the previous conference indoor meet, which was 2020, because of COVID canceling last year's edition.
Â
Next, the Rams will compete in the Iowa State Classic (Ames, IA) and the Don Kirby Invitational (Albuquerque, NM) this weekend.
