Junior Duo Collect First All-America Awards

NEW ORLEANS – Juniors Lauren Gale and Lexie Keller received First Team All-America honors for their performances in the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, announced on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Student-Athletes of USTFCCCA member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2022 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, took home First-Team All-America honors.

In Colorado State women's indoor history, the Rams now have 18 student-athletes to receive All-America status for a total 24 awards. For Keller, it is her first career All-America accolade, while it's Gale's second, joining her outdoor 4x100m relay second-team nod.

Gale, of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, placed eighth in the 400-meter race, becoming CSU's first female to participate in 400 in either national meet (indoor & outdoor). Crossing the finish line at 51.64, Gale was just .66 seconds off NCAA Champion Talitha Diggs' time and .11 away from Gale's school record set earlier this season.

After entering the national meet as the No. 15 seed, Keller finished third in the pentathlon for CSU's best placement in the event. Her 4,321 points reestablished her own record by 216 points. Katie Lloyd's seventh place showing in 2007 represents the only other Ram to compete at indoors of NCAA.

Since the USTFCCCA started the first and second team distinction in 2011, the Rams have collected two first-team nods and seven second-team awards.
