Lexie Keller, Jackson Morris and Jacob Brueckman earn All-America Honors after NCAAs

NEW ORLEANS – All three Rams that competed in this past weekend's NCAA Track and Field Championships earned All-America honors for their performances, announced on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Student-Athletes of USTFCCCA member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., took home First-Team All-America honors. The following eight brought in Second-Team honors, while the 16 to 24th finishers were recognized as Honorable Mentions.

Highlighting the Colorado State contingent was Lexie Keller, finishing sixth in the women's heptathlon to earn USTFCCCA First Team All-America honors. On the men's side, Jacob Brueckman and Jackson Morris each collected USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors with their finishes in the 1500-meter race and javelin throw, respectively, while Morris also picked up an honorable mention nod in the discus.

In Colorado State women's outdoor history, the Rams now have 28 student-athletes to receive All-America status for a total 41 awards. The sixth-place finish for Keller marked the best finish in CSU history for the seven-event multi. The first-team accolade adds to a Keller's impressive list for the year that includes an USTFCCCA Indoor All-America award for the pentathlon, USTFCCCA Mountain Region Field Athlete of the Year for the indoor season, the Mountain West Heptathlon Champion and school records in both the hept and pent.

The All-America awards were Brueckman and Morris' first in their careers. In CSU men's outdoor history, the numbers increased to 39 student-athletes and 68 awards. Similar to Keller, both were outdoor conference champions in their respective events.

Brueckman, a graduate student from Issaquah, Wash., placed ninth in one of two 1500 heats and ultimately placed 15th in the event. He became the fifth Ram to run the 1500 at nationals, but first since 2009.

Morris was the first athlete to double the javelin and discus at NCAAs since 2006. He finished the jav in 14th, while placing 21st in the discus. By reaching nationals, Morris extended CSU's streak to three years in having at least one male in the discus competition. Meanwhile, he represented the first jav thrower at nationals for CSU.

Since the USTFCCCA started the first and second team distinction in 2011, the Rams have collected nine first-team nods and 21 second-team awards.
