FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Starting off the new year strong, the Colorado State Track and Field team boast two weekly award winners after its first week of competition in 2023. Mariano Kis was named the Mountain West Men's Field Athlete of the Week and Jo-Anna Pinnock was named the Mountain West Women's Freshman of the Week.

Both Kis and Pinnock won their top events at the Potts Invitational hosted by Colorado last weekend with Kis winning the shot put and Pinnock winning the triple jump.

Kis threw a mark of 18.29 meters in the shot put, good for first place and a Colorado IPF facility record. He also placed eighth in the men's weight throw with a throw of 15.10 meters.

Pinnock finished on top of the podium in the triple jump for her second consecutive collegiate meet as the freshman recorded a jump of 12.08 meters and a jump of 5.45 meters in the long jump, good for fifth place. Her personal best in the triple jump currently ranks third in the Mountain West so far this season.

The Rams will be back in action this weekend as the team travels to Lincoln, Nebraska to compete in the Prairie Wolff Invitational Friday and the Mark Colligan Invitational Saturday.
