Senior’s best season closes her CSU career
FEDERAL WAY, Wash.  – Jessica Albanna's final year was one for the books.
Â
She set personal records on all three boards, scored at the conference meet for the first time, and did so on all of them and reached a goal by qualifying for the NCAA Zones E meet at the Kings Aquatic Center.
Â
Her final day of competition in the NCAA Championships qualifier came on the 1-meter board, where she scored a 206.25 to place 42nd out of 51 performers.
Â
"I think it was a very good experience for her," CSU diving coach Chris Bergere said. "Over time, I think she will gain greater wisdom from this opportunity and experience. She dove well; not her best, but respectable. Jessica is very meticulous in everything she does – school, sports and other endeavors. She is a perfectionist."
Â
The Albuquerque, N.M., product finished her final six-dive set, her best scores coming on her final two dives.
Â
She will graduate from Colorado State as one of only three divers in program history to rank in the top 10 on all three boards.
Â
"Jessica's efforts today do not define her diving, but the sum total of all her experiences over the past four years in diving is very impressive," Bergere said. "She had her best year in diving her senior season, and she improved every season. I'm very proud of her accomplishments. As a coach, to see your athlete improve every year is very rewarding."
