22 Rams Earn All-Mountain West Honors

Colorado State boasts thirteen men and nine women named to the all-conference team

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – 22 student-athletes apart of the Colorado State track and field team were named to the Mountain West All-Conference team as the league office announced both the men's and women's list Wednesday afternoon.
 
Winning the 2023 Women's Outdoor Mountain West Championship, the Rams' women's team earned nine all-conference honorees including the 2023 Women's Performer of the Meet, Gabi McDonald.
 
McDonald is joined on the list by heptathletes Lexie Keller and Sharde Johnson as Keller placed second in the heptathlon while Johnson completed the heptathlon and returned to win the open high jump event. Celyn Stermer earned all-conference honors for the second time this season after being named to the team during the indoor season and earning outdoor recognition after placing third in the women's pole vault. Sarah Carter and Annabel Stafford were both named to the list after medaling in the women's 10K. Carter placed first with Stafford coming in second. Michaela Hawkins earns the honor after placing second in the women's discus and Mya Lesnar was named to the team after placing second in the women's hammer throw. Finally, freshman Jo-Anna Pinnock wins the first all-conference award of her career after placing third in the women's triple jump.
 
On the men's side, 13 Rams were named to the All-Mountain West list including decathlon champion Drew Thompson. Thompson won six out of the ten decathlon events to claim gold with a score of 7,338 points. Sophomore Elijah Scott also earned his all-conference honor from the men's decathlon after placing third with 6,866 points.
 
In addition to the two decathletes, the men's team boasts four event champions to make the list including Allam Bushara winning the men's triple jump, Mason Brown winning the men's 10K, Mariano Kis winning the men's shot put and Jackson Morris winning the men's javelin. Other medal winners for the Rams include Ryan Birkmeier who took home silver in the men's 800 meter, Eldridge Harris who placed third in the men's pole vault and Lars Mitchel who won bronze in the men's 10K. Lastly, all four men who ran in Colorado State's 4x100 meter relay team were named to the list after placing third. The relay included Tyler Colwell, Cole Nordman, Tom Willems and John Fulton.
 
Colorado State's season will continue for a choice group of athletes who qualify for the NCAA West Regional Meet taking place in Sacramento, California May 24-27. The top 48 athletes in each event will qualify for the regional meet where they will compete for a spot in the top 24, automatically qualifying them for the NCAA Championship Meet taking place June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.
