Record-breaking performance receives conference recognition
FORT COLLINS – It took only one week of the 2024-2025 track season for a Colorado State track and field athlete to be honored with a Mountain West award. Cole Nordman's first place finish and school-record breaking 55-meter dash earned him MW Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Â
Â
Â
Nordman's career day at the Wyoming Power Meet was highlighted with first place finishes in both the 55m dash and 55m hurdles. Nordman's time of 6.17 seconds in the 55m dash broke the record that Duan Ruff set back during the 1998 season. Â
Â
Â
Nordman came close to another record at the meet, this time in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.18 seconds. This mark was just .02 seconds away from Jeremy Kendall's school record of 7.16, which was also set in 1998.  Â
Â
Â
Nordman's fast start is analogous to last season where the runner racked up four first-place finishes across the indoor season, in addition to a plethora of top five finishes across the short distance events.Â

Â
The Colorado State track and field team is back in action this week at the UCCS Pre-Holiday Invite and Multi's in Colorado Springs. The event runs Friday Dec. 13th and Saturday Dec. 14th.Â
