Babicka wins pentathlon on day one of UCCS Pre-Holiday Invite & Multis

COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado State track and field took home top honors in multiple events on the opening day of the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite and Multis on Friday in Colorado Springs.
 
Competing in her first multi event of the season, Tereza Babicka posted a score of 3,743 points and took home the victory in the pentathlon, thanks in part to a career-best 11.28-meter throw in the shot put.
 
Also finishing at the top in their respective event was Sam Mrky, who tied his career-best in the pole vault with a mark of 16-4.75 to win the event. On the women's side, Maria Kimpson took home the victory in the pole vault as well as she posted a height of 13-1.25.
 
In the men's heptathlon, Elijah Scott finished the day in second place with a score of 3,117 while Mateo Munoz currently sits in fifth with a score of 2,996. Both athletes will make a push for the top spot in the final day of competition on Saturday. Tomorrow's action begins at 11 a.m., beginning with the men's shot put and women's triple jump.
