Sophomore places 10th on platform

AIR FORCE ACADEMY – As the Air Force Diving Invitational closed Saturday, Maggie Di Scipio was able to final for the second time in three days, doing so on the discipline she has the least experience – platform.

It was just the second time this year the sophomore has competed on platform – the first time for teammates Jozie Meitz and Braeden Shaffer, who missed the Iowa Invitational. She scored 187.85 in the preliminary round to become one of the top 12 qualifiers for the finals. In that round, she posted a 186.15 and moved up a spot to place 10th.

"Maggie dove very well to place. She was very consistent," CSU diving coach Chris Bergere said. "She did some easy dives, but she did them very well. I'm very pleased with her growth, maturity and determination. She's has improved tremendously from last season."

To his point, she has qualified for Zones for the first time, doing so on the 1- and 3-meter springboards.
Meitz finished 21st in qualifying with a 170.20, while Shaffer was 26th with a 149.40.

Up next for the program will be the Mountain West Championships, held Feb. 21-24 at the University of Houston.
