Gabi Morris Named Mountain West Outdoor Female Athlete of the Year

Women’s Shot Put National Runner-Up adds to her resume
FORT COLLINS – Senior thrower Gabi Morris was named the Mountain West Outdoor Female Athlete of the Year the league office announced Thursday.

Morris adds the outdoor accolade to her dominate senior season before approaching her final year of eligibility for next year's indoor season. Key moments in Morris' 2024 outdoor campaign include:

Morris marks the first Ram to win the Outdoor Female Athlete of the Year award since it was established in 2008. Morris joins Mya Lesnar and Lexie Keller who were both named the Indoor Female Athlete of the Year in 2023 and 2022 respectively.

While Colorado State's team season has come to an end, Morris will join Lesnar and Michaela Hawkins at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials beginning June 21 in Eugene, Ore. To round out their individual seasons. The Rams will be back in action as a team in December for the beginning of the 2024-25 indoor season.

- Two-time All-American at the NCAA Championship meet this June earning First-Team in the women's shot put and Second-Team in the women's discus.
- Placed second in the women's shot put national championship competition with a personal best throw of 18.66 meters.
- Placed 16th in the women's discus national championship competition with a throw of 54.56 meters.
- Podiumed twice at the Mountain West Championship meet, placing second in the shot put and third in the discus throw.
- Her personal best mark in the women's shot put earned her a trip to the 2024 U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials where she will compete for a spot on the Olympic team ahead of Paris 2024.
- Her mark of 18.66 meters in the women's shot put also moves her up to second all-time in CSU history.
