Rams have four home meets; face four conference foes

FORT COLLINS  – Coming off a third consecutive successful dual season, Colorado State's women's swimming and diving team is set to embark on another challenging run of competitions in 2024-25 season, complete with four home meets while revisiting some old foes.

The Rams open the season with the first of two invitationals, taking part in the Front Range Invite on Oct. 4-5 at the Air Force Academy. A few weeks later, the team will welcome Washington State to Moby Pool (Oct. 18), the first meeting between the two programs since the 2019-20 season. The Cougars are an affiliate member of the Mountain West this season and will compete at the conference championships.

Other home meets will feature Colorado Mesa (Nov. 2) and Wyoming (Nov. 6), part of the busiest run of the season as the squad will have three duals in one week, starting with a trip to Denver on Nov. 1.

"We are thrilled announce a slate of events, including the opportunity for the Rams to compete at home several times this season," coach Christopher Woodard said. "We are including some of the best in the Mountain West this season with the addition of San Diego State and Washington State to the mix with in-conference rivals New Mexico, Air Force and Wyoming. We haven't had many home events in the past few years, and we are eager to pack the stands at Moby and EPIC! We will continue to test our team with the best in the region and look to use it as a springboard for success at the national-level."

The final home date of the slate will serve as senior day on Jan. 25 when the Rams host Colorado School of Mines.

The team will once again head into the winter break with a trip to the Iowa Invitational, then return to action with a double-dual against San Diego and San Diego State on Jan. 11. CSU has not faced the Toreros since 2000, the Aztecs since the 2018 season -- the last time San Diego State lost a dual meet, a run of 62 consecutive wins.

The Rams will see in-state rivals Air Force (part of a triple-dual with New Mexico and Seattle on Jan. 17-18) and Northern Colorado (Jan. 24) on the road. The divers will make it three trips to Colorado Springs during the season when they compete in the AFA Diving Invite (Jan. 30-Feb. 1).

Colorado State is coming off an 8-2 dual campaign last year, a season which ended with a surge to a third-place finish at the Mountain West Championships, where Erin Dawson was named the meet's Most Outstanding Swimmer.

Dawson, a two-event conference champion, is one of five returning all-conference performers, along with nine others who scored at the championships.

The team will get in the annual prep for the season by taking on the Horsetooth Open Water swim on Sept. 8.
