Rams Land Four Freshman for Upcoming Season

Emphasis turns to the boards with three divers in the group
FORT COLLINS  – Colorado State women's swimming and diving coach Christopher Woodard and his staff are continuing to build the roster for the upcoming season, announcing the addition of four freshmen for the 2025-26 season.

After signing eight swimmers during the initial period, the emphasis moves the diving well as head diving coach Chris Bergere landed commitments from a trio of divers – two from Colorado, one being the defending state 5A champion from Fort Collins. The fourth is a distance specialist who will work under associate head coach Lisa Ginder.

The Rams are currently in the final two months of competition, with three more meets and a diving invitational in preparation for the Mountain West Championships in Houston on Feb. 19-22.

Juliana Dodd | Littleton, Colo. | Dakota Ridge High School

Began the sport with the Mile High Dive Club after competing in gymnastics growing up … Placed 12th at the 4A Colorado state meet as a sophomore … A Zones qualifier the past two years … Competed internationally in Canada … Holds a personal best of 306 on the 3-meter springboard, 263.65 on platform and 246.25 on 1-meter … Intends to study in biomedical sciences.

Bergere says: "Juliana comes from a competitive gymnastics program in to diving. She has been diving for three years but has excelled quickly in the sport of diving due to her former training and hard work. Â I am super excited to have her joining the CSU Rams next."

Relatively new to the sport, the former gymnast started competing for Stanford Diving Club and made immediate gains. … A Region 10 qualifier on both springboards and a Zones qualifier in the 1-meter … Holds personal bests of 295.35 on 1-meter, 261.65 on 3-meter … Intends to study kinesiology.

Bergere says: "Jackie is a tremendous athlete with a ton of potential to get better. Her gymnastics background has made her very strong and flexible, which are valuable traits to learn at such a young age. She is currently training with the Stanford Diving Club in Palo Alto, CA. They continually turn out excellent divers because they train the basic diving skills so the next coach can build upon them. Jackie has excellent fundamental skills thus far and I'm sure she will blossom in the program I run here at CSU."

Sydney Ovesen | Fort Collins, Colo. | Fossil Ridge

Won the 5A state championship as a junior- … A local product, competes as a prep for Fossil Ridge High School and is a member of the Fort Collins Dive Club. … Has posted a career-best score of 548.25 (11 dives) on the 1-meter springboard. … Placed eighth at the USA Diving Junior Region 9 meet in Group A girls 916-18) with a score of 209.65. … A three-time qualifier for the USA Zone E Championships, placed top 24 in both the 1- and 3-meter in 2024. … Has a brother, Samuel, who plays soccer at Penn State.

Bergere says: "Sydney is a diamond in the rough. Â She has some very fine qualities as a diver. Â She works hard, perhaps the most important aspect of any athlete. Sydney has an extraordinary sense of timing and rhythm with the diving board. Â She has very nice lines and positions. Â She has an excellent toe point and very clean entries into the water. "Â

Quinn Whorley | Lake Forest Park, Wash. | Shorecrest

Has placed at her state meet individually and on relays 14 times, she is the 24th-ranked recruit in her state. … She is an all-league performer who was named her school's athlete of the season, holding school records in the 500 freestyle and 200 medley relay. … Competes for Cascade Swim Club. … Has placed in the 200-meter butterfly and the 1,500 freestyle at Western Senior zones and in the 800 freestyle at the March Speedo Sectionals. … Holds personal bests of 5:04.66 in the 500 free, 17:36.62 in the 1,650 freestyle and 10:32.29 in the 1,000 freestyle. … Her father, Drew, swam collegiately at UNC-Wilmington.

Ginder says: "Quinn is someone who we knew we wanted right away. She is smart, kind but also a little bit under the radar. Quinn has been making some big moves in the past couple of seasons and we know she will be able to continue that progression into her collegiate career. Quinn is not only great in the pool, but we could tell she is going to make an amazing teammate. We can't wait to get her on campus in 2025!"
