Geyer joins Rams as first top-30 recruit for the program

FORT COLLINS  – Ranging from coast to coast, Colorado State women's swimming and diving coach Christopher Woodard announced a signing class of six freshmen on Thursday, highlighted by the first top-50 recruit nationally in his tenure.

The Rams will add a class – all swimmers – featuring competitors from California to New York and multiple points in between, an accomplished collection featuring state champions and national-meet qualifiers and placers. Kayda Geyer, a World Juniors placer, will join her sister, Maddi, on the team, doing so as the No. 26-ranked recruit nationally by SwimCloud.

Tavia Arnell | Green River, Wyo. | Green River High School

The top-ranked recruit in Wyoming … She has been all-conference and all-state in each of her four years of swimming. … An eight-time state champion, winning both the 100-yard Butterfly and the 200 Individual Medley every season, setting the state record in the 100 Butterfly this past year. … Has top-10 finishes at both Speedo Sectionals and Futures … Has set personal bests of 55.51 in the 100 Butterfly, 23.70 in the 50 Free and 2:04.26 in the 200 IM

Woodard Says: " Tavia was an immediate no-brainer for our staff. Tavia is a self-motivated, humble and disciplined young woman who has an obvious passion for the sport. Green River has produced some great swimmers, and we expect Tavia will be no exception. Her athleticism makes her a threat in a variety of events and the Rams are better having her on our side."

Alaina Biebl | Westlakeland Township, Minn. | St. Croix Preparatory Academy

A state champion in the 100-yard Backstroke in 2024, she was also the state runner-up in 200 Individual Medley. … Ranked the No. 18 recruit in her state. … Was named the Section 4A swimmer of the year in 2024 and 2025. … Qualifier in both the NCSA and Speedo Sectionals. … Has personal bests of 56.02 in the 100 Back, 2:03.75 in the 200 Back, 2:06.60 in the 200 IM and 4:25.92 in the 400 IM.

Woodard Says: "Alaina impressed us during her campus visit with her maturity and her attitude. Alaina comes from a comprehensive training background and her ability to excel in the underwater game will undoubtedly prove an advantage in her racing. She will bolster a group of backstrokers and add depth in our IM crew. Alaina has the ambition and ability to go far with the Rams."

Kayda Geyer | Waxhaw, N.C. | Union Academy Charter

Geyer becomes the top-ranked recruit in the Woodard era, sitting No. 26 nationally by SwimCloud after a sensational summer at home and abroad. … Won the Toyota Nationals 200 Breast at the 18-under championships. … Placed eighth at the 200-meter Breaststroke at the World Aquatics Junior Championships held in Otopeni, Romania. … In the states, she was fifth in both the 100 and 200 Breaststrokes at Junior Nationals after placing eighth in the 200 Breast at the USA Swimming National Championships. … She is a four-time state champion in North Carolina, having reset the state record in the 100-yard Breaststroke in each of the past two seasons. … Holds short-course yardage personal bests of 1:00.66 in the 100 Breast, 2:11.00 in the 200 Breast, 2:01.06 in the 200 Individual Medley and 4:16.48 in the 400 IM. … Her sister, Maddi, swims for Colorado State.

Woodard Says: "Kayda may have flown under the radar for some programs a year ago, but that certainly isn't the case anymore as 2025 has been a breakout season for Kayda and something our staff was confident would materialize. Kayda's fun-loving attitude hides a racer's killer instinct, and she will add immediate punch to our lineup in the Breast and IM events as she comes to CSU on the cusp of school records. Kayda's personality was a fit with our coaching staff and team members and that was crucial, as we knew she belonged in Green and Gold."

Lauren Golden | Buffalo, N.Y. | Williamsville East High School

A three-time state placer, she has a pair of top-five finishes in the 50-yard Freestyle. … Ranked No. 12 in the state of New York. … Was the Section 6 Most Outstanding Performer in 2023. … Has qualified for Futures. … Holds personal bests of 23.50 in the 50 Free, 50.91 in the 100 Free, 1:52.79 in the 200 Free and 57.17 in the 100 Butterfly. … Captain of her flag football team.

Woodard Says: "Lauren displayed the athletic ability we seek from our sprinters. As someone splitting time between swimming and football, we knew we were getting an athlete unafraid of head-to-head competition or the bumps and bruises that come with it. Lauren has been at the top of rankings in New York, and we know that she can transition to being a vital member of a new sprint corps at CSU."

Avery Lonergan | Dallas, Texas | Greenhill High School

Produced multiple championships in the Southwest Preparatory, including the 200-yard Freestyle and on multiple relays. … Is the 45th-ranked recruit in her state. …. Holds Greenhill records in the 500 Free and as part of three relays. … A Futures and Speedo Sectionals qualifier. … Has personal bests of 1:51.31 in the 200 Free, 5:05.70 in the 500 Free and 52.08   in the 100 Free.

Woodard Says:  "Avery has the positive attitude and team-first mentality that we preach every day. Her passion for CSU was evident the moment she stepped on campus. But outside the intangibles, we believe Avery has the athletic frame, skill set and strength to become a great mid-distance freestyler for the Rams."

Aubrey Martin | Santa Clarita, Calif. | Valencia High School

She's earned high school All-America honors as part of a pair of relays, qualifying for the meet individually in the 100-yard Freestyle. … Ranked as a top-50 recruit in the state of California. … Has earned seven Futures cuts in her career. … Has personal bests of 23.66 in the 50 Free, 51.35 in the 100 Free, 1:51.89 in the 200 Free and 55.79 in the 100 Butterfly.

Woodard Says: "Aubrey will not only provide a spark as a vocal and positive teammate, she will likely be someone we are counting on the back half of our races. Aubrey has the fighter's mentality that propels her at the end of races. That attitude has yielded some impressive results already in her sprint Free and Fly, but we know she has even more in the tank as she looks toward competing for the Rams."
