Five Rams Earn All-Mountain West Honors

FORT COLLINS  – Over the course of four days of competition at the Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships in Houston, five Colorado State swimmers combined to earn all-conference honors nine times, with the full team announced by the league Wednesday.

Erin Dawson, who defended her 400-yard individual medley title at the meet, was one of four Rams to notch all-conference in two events, joined by Maisy Barbosa, Tess Whineray and Maya White. Lexie Trietley earned the distinction in one event. It is earned by placing in the top eight of an event at the championships, or with a top-three finish in a relay.

For White, a senior, her honors in the 500 and 1,650 freestyles becomes the seventh and eighth of her decorated career as she landed on the team all four seasons. She placed fourth in the 1,650 free, eighth in the 500 free as she capped her career by placing in every individual event she swam at conference all four seasons.

Dawson now has earned all-conference accolades six times in her career after her win in the 400 IM – the first Ram to defend a title at conference since Breann Fuller won the 200 backstroke in 2011-12 – and her sixth-place finish in the 500 free.

Trietley's fourth-place showing in the 50 freestyle pushes her all-conference awards to five in the junior's career, her time in the event (22.70) ranking third at CSU.

Whineray has now earned all-conference in both the 100 and 200 backstroke in back-to-back seasons, making the sophomore a four-time all-conference performer after touching fifth and third, respectively, this season.
