Duo returns to national shot put stage in Virginia Beach

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State's Mya Lesnar and Gabi Morris are returning to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in the shot put, the NCAA officially announced Tuesday night.
 
Lesnar, who is the reigning NCAA Indoor Shot Put Champion, earned the right to defend her title with stellar performances throughout the season. The senior threw an impressive 19.02 meters/62-feet-5 in her first outing of the season, taking immediate control of the top spot in the nation. The two-time Mountain West Indoor shot put champion will enter the national championships with the third-best mark behind Houston's KeAyla Dove (19.46/63-10.25) and Nebraska's Axelina Johansson (19.31/63-4.25).
 
Morris has had a spectacular season as well, finishing runner-up in the Mountain West and posting the 15th-best mark in the nation (17.64/57-10.5) to qualify for nationals. The national runner-up in shot put at last year's NCAA Outdoor Championships, Morris will get one more shot at a national title to close out her incredible collegiate career.
 
The 2025 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held March 14-15 in Virginia Beach, Va. The championships will air on the ESPN family of networks.
