Roadrunner Invite marks second contest of the season

FORT COLLINS– Colorado State cross country heads down to the state capital for the second bout of the season. A full slate of Colorado State runners are set to compete at the Roadrunner Invite on Saturday.

ROADRUNNER INVITE MEET INFORMATION
Date: Saturday, Sep. 20th
Location: Denver, Colo. / Washington Park
Time: Men's 8K 8:30 a.m. / Women's 6K 9:15 a.m.

MEET NOTES
  • Freshman Tatum Berg is set to make her second start as a Ram. The true freshman finished third at the Wyoming Invite and was the top-performing freshman in the field. Among freshmen, Berg's 5k sits as the top mark in the Mountain West and is among the top 100 in the nation.

  • Owen Casselman (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Thunder Ridge HS) was the top finisher on the men's side in Cheyenne, sporting a personal best 15:57.80. Casselman was not the only underclassmen to finish well at the Wyoming Invite, with redshirt freshman Nic Spencer finishing just behind.

  • The women were dominant in their first showing as a team, finishing first and claiming five of the top 10 spots individually. Sophomore Shea Volkmer showed a large jump from her freshman season, finishing in sixth (18:29.71) with a time 30 seconds faster than her result in 2024.

  • Ben Kirbo (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles) was the most experienced runner competing for the men at the Wyoming Invite.  The senior preached a team mentality in his preseason presser saying, You can be fast and physically fit, but it doesn't matter if you don't have a good group of guys around you. The men's team certainly lived by that notion, with four Rams finishing in succession including Kirbo.

  • Allison Pippert returns to competition after an impressive showing in Wyoming. The sophomore finished second place in her last time out and ranks sixth in MW in the 5000 meters. Pippert is building off an impressive rookie campaign in which she was awarded MW freshman of the week for her performance in the 2024 season opener.
