Shukurani and Waters Pick up Mountain West Weekly Awards

Duo was awarded for dominant performances last Friday
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State track field received its first weekly Mountain West awards of the 2026 indoor season after a pair of standout performances last Friday at the CU Potts Invite. Ndayiragije Shukurani received men's field athlete of the week, while Taylor Waters brought in men's freshman of the week. Â

Shukurani has been a force to start his sophomore campaign, claiming a school record in the indoor high jump with a mark of 2.18-meters/7-feet-1.75. In addition to the record, "Shuku" ranks in a tie for seventh nationally and leads the conference. Â

Waters has been stellar in his debut season, winning the pole vault twice with one runner-up finish. The Aurora native set a personal best at the CU Potts Invite of 5.25/17-2.75, a mark that ranks second in the MW. Nationally, the freshman ranks in the top 30 and has the third best mark by any freshman this season.  Waters also sits just shy of the indoor record, only behind Josh Horak at 17-3.                Â

Colorado State returns to action this weekend in Boulder at the Colorado Invite (Jan. 23-24), as well as one day at the UCCS Invite on Jan. 24. Â
