Borrman and Long to represent Colorado State on national stage

FORT COLLINS – Two members of the Colorado State track and field team were among the field when the NCAA announced its participants for the 2026 indoor national championships, Tuesday. Kajsa Borrman will compete in the weight throw, while Makayla Long enters the shot put competition.

This marks the fifth-straight year in which the Rams have sent multiple participants to the indoor national championships. This year's running will be held March 13-14 on the campus of University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Long will make her first appearance at a national meet, while Borrman looks to capitalize on her trip to Eugene, Ore., this past June where she competed in the hammer throw at the outdoor national championships.

Long qualified on the back of her performance at the Mountain West indoor championships this past weekend in which she threw a personal best 17.69 meters/58-feet-0.5 to win gold in the event. The performance vaulted the senior to ninth in the country, comfortably within the territory to qualify for nationals.

Borrman has been one of the top performers in the weight throw all season long, sitting in the qualifying range for most of the season. However, her performance at the conference championships cemented her trip to Fayetteville as she notched a career-best 22.16m/72-8.5 on the way to defending her conference crown. The Loveland native comes into the meet ranked No. 12 nationally.

Borrman will take the stage first, with the weight throw scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. MT on March 13. Long will enter the ring the following day at 1:45 p.m. MT. Fans can tune in to ESPN+ to cheer on the Rams.
