Colorado State claims its second field athlete of the week award of the outdoor season
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State track and field thrower Klaire Kovatch was awarded Mountain West women's field athlete of the week for her performance at the Jerry Quiller Classic. Â
Â
Â
Kovatch recorded a personal best in the discus, throwing a conference best 59.55-meters/195-feet-4. She moves to sixth all time in the Colorado State record book, behind a myriad of former NCAA national qualifiers.Â
Â
Â
The Montana native ranks fifth in the NCAA, just eight feet behind Alabama's Joyce Oguma who leads the nation. Kovatch also ranks second in the discus in the west region. Â
Â
Â
Kovatch made a trip to the National Championships last season but failed to record a mark. She sits comfortably in the threshold for the NCAA West Qualifiers, with a chance to make it in the hammer throw as well where she currently ranks 46th in the NCAA.Â
