Rams join league to provide indoor track & field conference championship opportunity
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State has announced it will be joining the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) for indoor track and field, offering the Rams an opportunity to compete for an indoor conference championship. The move will take place for the 2027 indoor track & field season.
Â
The change comes in addition to Colorado State's upcoming university-wide move to the Pac-12, a league that has historically not sponsored indoor track & field.
Â
CSU's men's and women's programs are among the seven teams joining the league, in addition to the men and women from Boise State, Sacramento State, Utah State and Utah Valley. The women's programs from San Diego State and UC Santa Barbara will also join. The seven teams mentioned above will join existing members Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Long Beach State, Oregon State, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, San Francisco, St. Mary's, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and Washington State.
Â
"We're excited to accept an invitation to the MPSF for indoor track & field," said head coach Brian Bedard. "This move will allow our student athletes the opportunity to compete for a conference title in the indoor season and will help us grow our championship culture by giving us a goal to rally around together. We are excited for the opportunity to face new competition and to represent Colorado State on a new stage."
Â
The MPSF's 34th indoor track & field championship is scheduled to feature 31 teams--19 women and 12 men--and will take place February 26-27, 2027, at the Podium in Spokane, Washington. The 31 MPSF Indoor Track & Field programs will be the largest since 2020, when 35 competed.
Â
"Our member institutions are committed to providing an outstanding championship experience, and we are excited to welcome both longtime conference partners and first-time participants as we build the future of MPSF Indoor Track & Field together," said MPSF Commisioner Foti Mellis. "We look forward to an outstanding championship in Spokane."
