Colorado State looks to build on strong season-opening performances
Colorado State cross country returns to action Saturday at the Roadrunners Invitational in Denver, looking to build on a strong season-opening performance at the Wyoming Invitational. The Rams opened the 2026 campaign with a men's team victory and a runner-up finish on the women's side as CSU begins its inaugural season in the Pac-12.

The CSU men enter the Roadrunners Invitational after claiming the team title at last week's Wyoming Invite. The Rams placed five runners inside the top eight, scoring 23 points to finish ahead of Wyoming, Colorado, and Northern Colorado.
Senior Chris Henry led the way for CSU in Cheyenne, finishing second overall in 15:26.0. Senior Ryan Schumacher followed in third at 15:32.9, while freshman Miles Halvorson opened his CSU career with a fourth-place finish in 15:33.0. Parker Westermann and Davis Rydman rounded out the Rams' scoring five, finishing sixth and eighth, respectively.
On the women's side, CSU finished second as a team with 48 points. Allison Pippert paced the Rams with a ninth-place finish in 18:46.2, followed closely by Kaylee Ellsworth and Adeline Barker, who placed 11th and 12th, respectively. Shea Volkmer and Caroline Mehlhorn completed CSU's scoring five in 17th and 20th.
The Roadrunners Invitational marks the second of five regular-season meets for Colorado State. Following Saturday's race, the Rams will travel to Columbia, Mo., for the Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 25 before continuing their buildup to the postseason, which begins with the Pac-12 Championships on Oct. 30 in Boise, Idaho.
