GAME
  • Colorado jumped out to an early lead and never looked back after scoring touchdowns on their first three possessions to lead CSU 21-7 after the first quarter, and eventually winning the game by a score of 45-13.
  • Following the loss, CSU is 22-66-2 (.244) all time against CU.
  • CSU is now 6-12 against CU in Denver.
  • Tonight's attendance of 70,158 was the second-highest for a Rocky Mountain Showdown since 2003 (73,932 in 2017; 76,129 in 2003), and seventh-highest of the 18 Showdowns played in Denver.
  • CSU sold 28,920 tickets. CU sold 38,399 tickets and the Broncos sold an additional 2,839 tickets.
  • CSU’s total includes 9,291 student tickets.
 
INDIVIDUAL
 
Wyatt Bryan
  • Scored seven points for the Rams (2 field goals and an extra point).
    • Went 2-for-2 on field goals, including a 51-yard field goal to end the first half and a 27-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
    • Has made 4 consecutive field goals of 50 yards or more dating back to his sophomore season of 2016.
    • Bryan now has 286 career points, positioning him just eight points behind CSU’s all-time leading scorer RB Steve Bartalo (294; 1983-86).
 
QB K.J. Carta-Samuels
  • Completed 18-of-33 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown.
    • Started the game 10 of 12 with 107 yards and one touchdown.
      • Completed 7 of his first 8 pass attempts
    •  Has now thrown for 713 yards and six touchdowns in the first two games.
 
WR Olabisi Johnson
  • Led the Rams in receiving with 6 catches for 82 yards and one touchdown.
    • Third consecutive game with six catches, dating back to last season.
    • Sixth time that Johnson has had at least 80 yards receiving in a game, and the first time that he has had 80-plus yards in three consecutive games.
 
RB Marcus McElroy
  • Led CSU in rushing with 61 yards on 14 carries.
    • Set career highs for rushing attempts, yards, and longest rush of 24 yards.
 
LB Josh Watson
  • Led CSU with 15 tackles.
    • Set a career high for tackles (8 unassisted and 7 assisted)
 
OTHER NOTES
  • CSU scored its first touchdown of the game on its second possession with a 26-yard pass from QB K.J. Carta-Samuels to WR Olabisi Johnson, capping a 7-play, 75-yard drive.
 
  • CB Rashad Ajayi forced a fumble with 52 seconds remaining in the first half that was recovered by DE Arjay Jean.
    • Following the fumble, the Rams were able to move the ball 31 yards in 6 plays to set up a 51-yard field goal by K Wyatt Bryan to end the first half.
 
  • V.J. Banks recorded his first interception of the season on the first play of the second quarter. Banks now has 3 interceptions in his FBS career (2 at Rice).         
 
  • QB Collin Hill saw his first game action since Oct. 8, 2016, when he suffered a torn ACL in a game against Utah State.
  • Hill entered tonight’s game on the Rams’ second possession of the third quarter, at the 12:40 mark.
  • He played two series and completed 1-of-4 passes for 5 yards.
  • Hill’s one completion—a 5-yd. pass to Izzy Matthews—was his first completion since a 16-yard completion to WR Michael Gallup on a 2nd-and-10 play in the third quarter of the 10/8/16 Utah State game.
 
  • P Ryan Stonehouse had seven punts of over 50 yards including a long of 61 yards. For the night he averaged 48.8 yards on a career-high 9 punts.
 
  • DL Ellison Hubbard set a career high for tackles with seven, also had an assisted tackle for loss.
 
  • WR Nikko Hall and WR E.J. Scott both recorded their first career receptions during the game.
