An essential pillar to the mission and advancement of Colorado State University is the campus-wide commitment to upholding our belief in the strength of diversity and fostering an inclusive environment for all members of our community. The department of athletics at CSU is equally committed to demonstrating that promoting diversity and an inclusive atmosphere are imperative to pursing the excellence for which our entire department aspires to achieve.Â
Through diversity and inclusion efforts, CSU athletics aims to enhance the qualitative experiences and holistic development for our student athletes and entire staff. With intention, our efforts seek to acknowledge and affirm the strengths of diversity – race and ethnicity, most certainly, yet also diversity of gender, culture, and perspectives that elevate a consciousness and our ability to serve the needs of our diverse populations. As the flagship, land-grant institution in the state of Colorado, CSU athletics takes great pride in serving as a visible and engaging arm of the institution that seeks to connect with and unite our local and surrounding communities.Â

NCAA Diversity & Inclusion Week: October 1 - 5, 2018
From October 1 to 5, along with the NCAA and their member institutions, we will be using our platform to start the discussion, speak out on, and promote diversity and inclusion as key elements of student-athlete success. The goal of this week is to create a dialogue on diversity and inclusion and to communicate the benefit of inclusive environments to the student-athlete experience.Â
October 1 - More Than An Athlete
Our student-athletes are much more than their sport, and are more than the wins and losses they may see in competition. They are well-rounded individuals who excel in the classroom, give back to their communities and work hard outside the field of play. Explore below to see the stories of some of our Rams student-athletes, and how they view themselves outside of sport. Our student-athletes are much more than their sport. We spent the summer with Petersfield High School in Jamaica, connecting with locals while we learned more about their country and culture.

October 2 - Beyond A Label
Student-athletes face many stereotypes as a group. For example, a general stereotype that can be debunked is the idea that athletes are only at the school to play a sport. See below to better understand how our student-athletes are more than what you may have heard.

October 3Â - The Facts
We are striving to make Diversity and Inclusion even more of a priority on our campus. The goal of this day is to provide some background information about diversity and inclusion here at CSU by sharing information about the strides we have made.ÂÂ
October 3Â - Diversity Is ...
Each person's definition of diversity and inclusion is different, and each definition is valid. Showing that diversity and inclusion can mean different things to people given their diverse backgrounds helps to encourage these values in everyday life.Â
