Ferris came to Colorado State from the University of Pittsburgh, where he had served as executive associate athletic director for external operations since 2014. He oversaw the Panthers' licensing, marketing, ticket sales and operations, television initiatives and development operations.
Ferris manages the external operations for Colorado State Athletics in the areas of sales, marketing and external communication. His focus centers on generating revenue through ticket sales, marketing, corporate sponsorships, promotions, licensing and multi-media rights. In addition, Ferris oversees all aspects of the department's external communication endeavors, including branding, media relations, online and social/digital media, while managing the university's relationships with external sports marketing partners.
A native of Upper St. Clair, Pa., Ferris served as Pittsburgh's associate athletic director for external relations from 2011-14 after stints as associate athletic director for marketing (2008-11), assistant athletic director for marketing and promotions (2004-08), director of sports marketing (2001-04), assistant director of marketing (2000-01) and director of game day marketing (1999-2000).
As an undergraduate at Pitt, Ferris began as a student equipment manager before working as an intern with the media relations and marketing departments. Ferris is a 1998 graduate of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in business and communications. He also earned his master's degree at the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business. Chris's wife is named Jen.
