Dawn Burton joined Colorado State in 2005 and is currently the Head Spirit Coach, head cheerleading coach, and CAM the Ram mascot coach. In addition, she manages the Golden Poms dance team and assists in Gameday Community Engagements and committees within the CSU Athletic Department.
A graduate from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Administration in Human Resources Management and Marketing, and a master’s degree in Human Resources Development. Burton was a cheerleader and captain on both the co-ed and all-girl teams during her time at New Mexico State.
Burton has been an active coach in the spirit industry for over 25 years, beginning at the High School level, and currently at the collegiate level at Colorado State University. As a Director, Coach, Choreographer, Motivational Speaker and Consultant. She has obtained state cheer titles for teams in Texas, NM & CO. In addition, she was a UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association) Head Instructor and Collegiate Instructor for over 10 years.
Burton has experience as a technical and routine judge for state, regional, and national competitions and has judged high school, all-star and collegiate teams at the national level in Orlando (as aired on ESPN) Her expertise has taken her judging all over the United States, and internationally to such places as London, Mexico City, Mexico and Puerto Rico. *Next on her list….Spain.
Burton is both NFHS and AACCA certified. During her time at CSU the spirit program has been recognized with the MW Spirit Award, the cheer team has placed 5th in the nation for competing at UCA College Nationals and has assisted in promoting 10+ Golden Poms to professional teams, such as: The Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, Miami Dolphins and Colorado Eagles to name a few.
