    Assistant Inside Linebackers
Trent Matthews was hired in February 2025 as a run-game specialist before being named assistant inside linebackers coach on Jim Mora's initial staff in December 2025.

Matthews played for Colorado State as a safety from 2011-15 and earned All-Mountain West honors twice. He finished his career in the top-10 in school history in interceptions adn games played and started.

Prior to his return to Fort Collins in the coaching ranks, Matthews was named the head coach at Forge Christ High school in Arvada briefly before making the move to his alma mater.

Matthews was at Colorado Mesa as a defensive coordinator (2022-24) and was multiple stops at the prep ranks as well. He was on staff with CSU as a graduate assistant in 2018 and at Northern Colorado in 2019.

Following his collegiate career, Matthews had a short stint with the Edmonton Eskimos and signed an off-season contract with the Miami Dolphins in 2017.
