John Hirn, a 1993 graduate of Colorado State University, serves as the volunteer historian for CSU Athletics, contributing to an endless fount of knowledge about the history of the Rams (and Aggies).

What began with a photograph of legendary head football coach Harry Hughes has blossomed into a passion project of supporting Colorado State Athletics, including a 448-page book titled "From Aggies to Rams: The History of Football at Colorado State University."

Hirn's assistance in cataloging the history of CSU Athletics ranges the entirety of athletics on the Fort Collins campus, and he is a regular contributor to research projects with the department as well as a contact for external partners seeking photo and video of past Rams.

The Northglenn, Colo., native began his unofficial career into tracing the history of CSU Athletics in 1992 and his book was published in 2009. A large amount of Hirn's collection of historical pieces can be found throughout the display cases in the CSU Hall of Fame inside Moby Arena which he helped construct in 2013 as well as the display cases in the Hall of Champions inside Canvas Stadium.

Hirn's website, ColoradoAggies.com, was built in 2007 as a way to track the history of Colorado State Football, and he is a regular contributor for historical pieces on CSURams.com and with the school's Hall of Fame programming.

In 2017, Hirn received the Larry LaSasso Spirit Award which has been given annually since 1983 to an individual or couple who demonstrates exceptional spirit and enthusiasm for Colorado State athletics.

John and his wife, Nicole, are the parents of three.
